What types of metal armour did Knights wear?

Medieval knights wore different types of metal armor to protect themselves. Early on, they used chain mail, which was made of linked iron rings and covered most of their body. By the 14th century, plate armor became more common, offering better protection with steel or iron plates covering the chest, legs, and arms.
