When Was SpaceX's First Starship Flight?

SpaceX's first Integrated Starship (Starship + Super Heavy Booster) flight took place on April 20, 2023, at 9:33 a.m. EDT (1:33 p.m. UTC, 8:33 a.m. local Texas time) from SpaceX's facility in Boca Chica, Texas.

The flight encountered issues approximately three minutes after launch when the upper stage failed to separate from the Super Heavy booster, leading to a rapid tumbling motion resulting in SpaceX commanding the flight termination system to destroy the rocket.

Despite the explosive end, the mission achieved a maximum altitude of about 24 miles (39 kilometers).

Earlier prototype variants of Starship existed and flew prior to this beginning with Starhopper, SN5 (flying water tower), SN6, SN8, SN9, SN10, SN11, SN15 as part of initial development.
